What is AlternateReader?

AlternateReader is a free, open-source eBook reader and library management application developed by Alternate Lab. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

AlternateReader supports all popular eBook formats including EPUB, MOBI, AZW, PDF, DJVU, FB2, HTML, RTF, DOCX and more. It has an intuitive and customizable interface that allows users to browse their eBook library, sort books into collections, search through titles and authors, change fonts, themes and layouts, bookmark pages, make highlights and annotations.

One of the key features of AlternateReader is its advanced library management system. It automatically organizes eBooks into collections based on metadata and allows users to manually sort, tag books, series and more. Users can search through their entire library quickly using simple keywords or complex boolean search queries.

Other notable features include automatic fetching of metadata and book covers, syncing reading positions across devices, exporting highlights and annotations, recommending related books using an embedded discovery system, tracking reading statistics and more.
