What is Animoog?

Animoog is a professional-grade music synthesizer and polyphonic keyboard app developed by Moog Music for iOS devices including iPhone and iPad. First released in 2011, Animoog provides an intuitive and visually engaging interface for creating rich, animated soundscapes and melodies.

At the heart of Animoog is an advanced synthesizer engine powered by Moog's Anisotropic Synth Engine (ASE), which allows for the dynamic animation of waveform timbres in response to user input. The app features over 250 preset sounds covering a wide range of genres and styles. Users can easily shape and transform these sounds or create their own patches from scratch using oscillators, filters, envelopes, and effects modules.

Animoog includes an easy-to-play, multi-touch keyboard which facilitates playing chords, melodies, and basslines. Additional features include full MIDI integration, audio busing to other iOS apps, audio recording, and pre-mapping to external USB MIDI controllers. Animoog received the 28th annual TEC Award for musical apps technology shortly after its release.
