What is AutoRap?

AutoRap is an automated rap lyric generator created by researchers at Microsoft. It uses machine learning and natural language processing to analyze input text and automatically generate rap lyrics that follow basic rhyme and rhythm patterns.

The tool works by first breaking down the input text semantically to understand concepts, relationships and sentiment. It then applies learned rules about lyric structure, rhyme, rhythm and word choice to construct coherent rap lyrics that capture the meaning of the original text.

AutoRap was developed by academics to showcase cutting-edge AI capabilities in computational creativity and music composition. While the lyrics are basic, they demonstrate how algorithms can learn artistic styles and conventions to produce unique outputs.

The AutoRap interface allows users to input any text, choose from several rap styles, and generate a rap song audio recording from the AI-created lyrics. Users can also fine-tune the computer-generated lyrics before having the rap track synthesized.
