What is BabyAGI?
BabyAGI is an open-source artificial general intelligence project started in 2022. The goal of BabyAGI is to develop AI systems that can mimic cognitive development in humans, resulting in human-like general intelligence.
Rather than focusing on narrow tasks, BabyAGI aims to support the incremental development of a range of cognitive abilities like reasoning, planning, learning, creativity, and more. To achieve this, the project takes inspiration from human cognition, neuroscience, psychology, and developmental learning.
The BabyAGI software architecture consists of simulated environments for the AI to explore and modules for various cognitive functions that can be trained through autonomous learning, human interaction, and experimentation. As new capabilities emerge, the AI agent will be able to attempt more complex environments and tasks.
The project is still in early stages but hopes to be a leading platform for AGI research focusing less on purely computational approaches and more on biologically grounded architectures. As an open-source initiative with public code repositories, BabyAGI aims to enable collaboration to study and create safe artificial general intelligence aligned with human values.
