Discover BibleBox, an open-source digital library offering free access to Bibles, Christian books, films, audio files, and more via a local wireless hotspot
BibleBox is an open-source software project that transforms low-cost hardware devices into digital libraries filled with Christian resources. The purpose of BibleBox is to make Bibles, Christian books, films, audio files, and other faith-based media freely available to those with limited internet access.
A BibleBox creator loads educational and inspirational content onto a small computer or router capable of sharing files wirelessly. When powered on, the BibleBox creates a local WiFi hotspot that nearby devices can connect to in order to download content. No internet access is required on the user's device.
The BibleBox platform aims to benefit several groups: missionaries bringing media tools to remote areas, hospitals and prisons providing patients/inmates with spiritual support materials, disaster relief teams sharing encouragement after catastrophes, churches offering visitors free resources, and more. Content is focused on Christianity but flexible enough for multiple languages and denominations.
An active community of contributors packages new materials and develops BibleBoxbuilds optimized for different hardware. The open-source codebase facilitates localization so BibleBoxes can be adapted to specific regions and needs. Low startup costs make BibleBoxes accessible even to resource-constrained organizations and individuals hoping to supply spiritual support.
