What is DmgCreator?

dmgCreator is a free, open-source utility for macOS that simplifies the process of creating disk image (.dmg) files. dmg files are commonly used to distribute macOS applications. The dmgCreator application provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface that allows users to quickly set up and configure options for building a dmg file.

Some of the configuration options available in dmgCreator include:

• Naming the dmg volume (name user sees when mounted)
• Choosing image format (read/write, compressed, encrypted, etc)
• Specifying disk image size
• Adding custom background image for mounted volume
• Configuring custom icon positions for items in the mounted volume
• Integrating build scripts to run pre/post disk image creation

Once the desired dmg options are set up, the user can simply drag and drop files/folders into the dmgCreator window to include in the disk image. dmgCreator will then build the actual dmg file which can be used to reliably distribute macOS software to end users.
