What is Gatotray?

Gatotray is a free and open-source screenshot tool for Windows that allows you to capture any part of your screen and annotate images with various shapes, text boxes, blurred areas to cover sensitive content, and more. It is designed to be a lightweight yet fully-featured alternative to paid tools like Snagit or Skitch.

Once you take a screenshot with Gatotray, you can open the built-in editor to add rectangles, circles, arrows, highlight tools, and text boxes to point out important areas or information in the image. You can customize the color and thickness of each shape or highlighter tool. The integrated text editor makes it easy to add customizable text captions or callouts as well.

If you need to cover up sensitive data like passwords or account numbers, you can pixelate part of the screenshot using the integrated blur tools. There are options to Gaussian blur or mosaic blur any section with custom sizes.

After annotating your screenshots, you can save the images to your computer in JPG, PNG, PDF and several other popular formats. Gatotray also allows you to print screenshots, upload them to Dropbox or Imgur, or copy the image to your clipboard to paste into documents or presentations.
