An open-source software designed for hands-free control of video players, allowing users to watch anime without touching the screen, utilizing gaze tracking technology.
Gaze Anime is an open-source gaze-based video player software designed specifically for watching anime videos. It allows hands-free control of the video player using only eye movements and gazes, detected by a webcam.
The software uses computer vision algorithms to track the user's eyes in real-time and map the gaze location to appropriate controls on the video player. For example, if the user looks at the bottom right of the screen, the video pauses. Looking at the top left scrolls back 10 seconds. This allows the user to play, pause, rewind, fast forward, and navigate the anime video completely hands-free.
By eliminating the need for manual controls like a keyboard or mouse, Gaze Anime creates an immersive watching experience for anime viewers. People with motor disabilities can also benefit from hands-free control. The software is customizable as well, allowing the user to set their preferred gaze control mappings.
As an open-source software, Gaze Anime is free to use and can be modified or enhanced by developers. It works on Windows, Linux and Mac OS devices as long as they have a webcam. The code is available on GitHub under an open-source license.
