HALion Symphonic Orchestra is a professional-grade virtual instrument developed by Steinberg for composers, producers, and sound designers looking to create realistic orchestral music and scores. It runs as a VST, AU, or AAX plugin within a digital audio workstation.

At the heart of HALion Symphonic Orchestra is a massive library of meticulously sampled instruments featuring the London Symphonic Orchestra. In total it provides over 90GB of samples captured in pristine 24-bit/192kHz quality, with multiple articulations, dynamics, and round robins for realism. Instruments included are strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), brass (trumpet, trombone, horn, tuba), woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon), and a full range of tuned and untuned orchestral percussion.

HALion Symphonic Orchestra uses advanced sampling and scripting techniques to enable very realistic performances and expressive capabilities. Features include polyphonic legato for strings and woodwinds, true legato transitions between notes, adjustable mic positions, and custom effects like echo and reverb.
