What is Inspakt?
Inspakt is an open-source product analytics platform designed as an alternative to proprietary solutions like Mixpanel and Amplitude. It provides many of the same core functionalities for understanding user behavior and product usage:
- Track events - Define custom events in your application code to measure actions like button clicks, form submissions, page views etc.
- User profiles - Collect attributes about your users like account type, location, first signup date etc.
- Funnels - Visualize user flows through key workflows and conversion funnels.
- Retention - View returning user rates and churn metrics.
- Segmentation - Slice and dice behavioral data by user attributes.
As an open source tool, Inspakt gives you full data ownership and control. You can host it yourself instead of relying on a third-party service. This allows for better customization of data pipelines, integrations with internal tools, and compliance with regulations.
The main downside is that configuration and management requires more technical expertise compared to turnkey SaaS solutions. However, for many organizations the benefits of an open, transparent analytics platform outweigh the additional complexity.
