Cooperative first-person shooter video game with zombie-like specimens in different scenarios, buying better weapons and gear as you advance
Killing Floor is a cooperative first-person shooter video game developed and published by Tripwire Interactive in 2009. It is available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, OS X, and PlayStation 4.
In Killing Floor, players work together to fight off waves of zombie-like mutant specimens called Zeds. Matches take place on various maps across destroyed locations in Europe after an experiment to clone humans goes terribly wrong. Up to 6 players can team up online or locally in each match, selecting one of several classes with different play styles like the gun-focused Commando or the healing-focused Medic.
As players progress through waves of increasingly difficult Zeds, they earn money for killing specimens which can be used to purchase better weapons and gear between rounds. The matches become progressively harder with more powerful mutant specimens attacking the players, culminating in a boss wave battle against the Patriarch. The goal is to withstand as many waves as possible until the team gets overwhelmed and wiped out.
With its cooperative gameplay focused on teamwork, large variety of weapons and upgrades, visually gory combat, and waved-based matching structure, Killing Floor has developed a strong cult following over the years while influencing many other zombie cooperative shooters.
