What is Legend of Grimrock?
Legend of Grimrock is a first-person dungeon crawler RPG video game originally developed by Almost Human and published by Almost Human and Paradox Interactive. It was first released for Windows in April 2012.
In the game, the player controls a party of one to four characters as they explore a massive dungeon filled with traps, puzzles, and monsters. The gameplay focuses on exploration, environmental puzzles, and turn-based combat.
The dungeon environment features grid-based movement reminiscent of old-school RPGs like Dungeon Master or Eye of The Beholder. There is no map available, requiring the player to navigate by remembering landmarks and mapping their progress. Puzzles make use of switches, movable objects, pressure plates and more to impede progress and unlock new areas.
Combat happens in real-time, but the player can enter a turn-based mode to evaluate the situation. Various weapons and armor can be equipped on each character, with different stats affecting damage, speed, and resistances. Customization of skills is also available to create unique character builds.
