What is Mylar?

Mylar is an open-source, self-hosted comic book server program that allows users to manage, catalog, and share their digital comic book libraries. Developed in Python, Mylar integrates with comic metadata providers like Comic Vine to automatically identify and retrieve metadata like series name, issue number, writers, artists, genres, and descriptions for uploaded comic files.

Once metadata is retrieved, Mylar renames comic files into a standardized naming format and allows users to search and filter their libraries by various criteria. It also integrates with major comic book news sites to automatically identify the latest comic releases and grab them as soon as they become available. Mylar has a responsive web interface for managing and accessing your library from desktop or mobile browsers.

As an automated comic book server, some of Mylar's major features include: automated comic grabbing, renaming and organization; full metadata support from sources like Comic Vine; automatic notifications for new comic releases; web-based search, filtering and library management; automated album art fetching; file extension and integrity checks; and a responsive UI optimized for all devices.
