OpenALPR (Open Automatic License Plate Recognition) is an open source software for automatically recognizing and reading license plate numbers from images and video streams. Some key features of OpenALPR include:

• Achieves very high (97-99%) recognition accuracy under good conditions.
• Works on common image and video formats including JPEG, PNG, AVI, MP4, etc.

• Custom trained models can be built for unsupported regions or to improve accuracy.

OpenALPR runs on many platforms like Linux, Windows and requires standard computing hardware with a dedicated GPU for best performance. It provides capabilities like vehicle detection and localization, plate cropping and dewarping, character segmentation and optical character recognition.
