Open-source guitar effects software for Windows, macOS, and Linux, allowing users to simulate amps, cabinets, pedals, and rack effects in real-time using impulse responses.
Pedalboard 2 is an open-source digital guitar effects software for Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems. It is designed specifically for guitarists to simulate guitar amps, cabinets, stompboxes and rack effects virtually using plugins called impulse responses (IRs).
With Pedalboard 2, guitar players can create custom pedalboards using a drag-and-drop interface to add effects like overdrive, distortion, chorus, reverb, delay and more. It comes bundled with several amp, cab and pedal IRs to get started. More IR packs can be downloaded for free or purchased to expand the available sounds.
Once a pedalboard is designed, guitarists can connect their instrument to their audio interface and control the virtual effects in real-time while playing. Effects can be turned on/off, tweak parameters like drive, tone, level, etc. and customize the signal chain order.
Pedalboard 2 provides flexible routing options, supports external MIDI controllers, multichannel IRs for stereo effects, FX loops, parallel signal paths, custom user presets and more. The zero-latency performance optimized engine aims to closely replicate analog effects.
As an open-source program, Pedalboard 2 is available for free. It runs on 64-bit Windows, macOS and Linux operating systems. The software continues to be developed by a community of contributors aiming to create a feature-rich platform for guitarists looking for studio and stage-ready amp/pedal emulations.
