Pi Network: Decentralized Blockchain Platform & Cryptocurrency

Discover Pi Network, a cryptocurrency and social media platform allowing users to earn coins by running a node on their phone and inviting friends, aiming to build a decentralized blockchain network.

What is Pi Network?

Pi Network is a cryptocurrency and social media platform that enables users to earn Pi coins by running a node on their phone. It utilizes a novel consensus algorithm called Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP) that allows lightweight mobile nodes to participate in securing the network without consuming substantial computing power.

Users install the Pi app on their phones and are given a daily opportunity to tap a lightning icon and earn Pi. The more active users are on the network, the more Pi they accumulate over time. Users can also invite friends to join their security circle which further contributes to their mining rate.

A key goal of Pi Network is to build a decentralized blockchain powered by everyday people that can deliver value, security, and ease-of-use. Since mining doesn't drain phone batteries, more users should be incentivized to participate, creating a trusted global peer-to-peer payment and social engagement platform.

Pi aims to leverage its widespread user adoption to develop real-world use cases once they reach a sufficient level of users. Some potential use cases include peer-to-peer payments, decentralized finance, marketplace transactions, and more. The project is still in beta development phase.
