Plated: Meal Kit Delivery Service

Pre-portioned ingredients and recipes for home-cooked meals, making cooking easy and accessible

What is Plated?

Plated is an American company that delivers pre-portioned meal kit ingredients directly to customers to prepare homecooked meals. Founded in 2012 by Nick Taranto and Joshua Hix, the purpose behind Plated is to make cooking at home easy, fun and accessible to everyone.

Plated provides subscribers with recipes and pre-measured fresh ingredients needed to prepare meals at home. Customers select meals from a weekly rotating menu on the Plated website, choosing how many recipes and servings they need. The meal kits are then delivered to the customer's door. The meal kits contain meat, vegetables, and any specialty ingredients called for, precisely portioned for the recipe.

The service aims to cut down on meal planning, grocery shopping, and food waste. By delivering only what is needed for recipes chosen by the customer, there is no guessing at ingredients or wasting unused perishables lingering in the refrigerator. The simple recipes and portioned ingredients also eliminate a lot of meal planning and prep work for the home cook.

Plated offers a variety of recipe options each week, with 24 recipes to select from. Meal options range from quick and simple to more complex and globally inspired dishes. Dietary preferences like vegetarian, carb conscious, pescatarian, etc. can also be accommodated. Recipes are rotated weekly to provide more variety.

The meal kits service starts at $48 per week for 2 recipes/2 servings each. Additional recipes/servings can be added on from there. Plated ships to most of the continental USA.
