Experience innovative hero design and fast-paced team battles in Strife, a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game with strategic depth and minimal toxicity.
Strife is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed and published by S2 Games. It was released for Microsoft Windows in May 2015 after being available in open beta testing since February 2014.
Strife features classic MOBA gameplay, with two teams of 5 players competing to destroy the opposing team's base by controlling their own units and heroes. Like other MOBAs, Strife has a top-down perspective, features asymmetrical gameplay, and has heroes with unique abilities and defined roles.
What sets Strife apart from other MOBAs is its focus on innovative hero design, shorter match times, and systems to reduce toxic behavior. Heroes have out-of-combat abilities, unique scaling, and customizable stats. Matches are designed to be completed in under 30 minutes through increased gold and experience gain. And there is built-in voice communication to enhance teamwork.
Since its official release, Strife has received positive reviews for its accessibility, creative mechanics, and anti-toxicity features. However, the game never achieved widespread popularity in the MOBA genre dominated by titans like League of Legends and Dota 2. After years of updates and balance changes, S2 Games discontinued development on Strife in May 2018.
