Awesomenauts is a 2D multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game developed by Ronimo Games. Players control one of several mercenary characters called Awesomenauts to battle other players across different maps and game modes.

What is Awesomenauts?

Awesomenauts is a 2D sidescrolling multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) video game developed by Dutch video game developer Ronimo Games. It was released on August 1, 2012 for PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam.

In Awesomenauts, players control one of several mercenary characters, known as Awesomenauts, who battle across different maps and game modes to advance their teams' goals. Like traditional MOBAs, it incorporates elements of Defense of the Ancients and League of Legends, but differs by utilizing a simplified 2D sidescrolling perspective.

The game features over a dozen playable Awesomenauts characters, each with their own unique abilities, playstyles and roles within the team. There is also an in-game shop system where players can purchase upgrades and abilities for their chosen Awesomenaut using coins earned through playing matches.

Awesomenauts supports both online multiplayer battles and local co-op/versus modes. Online modes allow playing in teams of up to three players, battling against another three-player team to destroy their base first. There are five main maps and three core game modes available.

Since its initial release, Awesomenauts has seen continued development support from Ronimo Games, including expansions that have added new Awesomenauts, maps, gameplay updates and reworks. It maintains an active online playerbase years after launch.
