What is UEStudio?
UEStudio is a free, open source 3D level editor for Unreal Engine. It provides a streamlined environment focused specifically on level design, allowing users to create and edit levels and assets for Unreal Engine games without requiring the full engine install.
Key features of UEStudio include:
- Intuitive drag-and-drop interface for placing and manipulating BSP brushes, static meshes, lights, volumes, etc.
- Real-time 3D viewport with lit preview, physics simulation and basic gameplay logic
- Support for importing assets from Blender, Maya, 3ds Max and other DCC tools
- Ability to compile levels and package them for use in Unreal Engine projects
- Plugin system for extending editor functionality
- Cross-platform support for Windows, Mac and Linux
While not a full replacement for the Unreal Editor, UEStudio aims to provide an easy way for level designers, environment artists and other non-programmers to build basic levels without needing access to the full source code and toolset. It can integrate seamlessly into larger Unreal Engine pipelines and serves as a great starting point for quick prototyping or learning level design.
