Unreal PT is an unofficial and incomplete recreation of the playable teaser (PT) for the canceled Silent Hills video game. The original PT was released in 2014 as a demo to showcase the new Silent Hill game in development by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro.
After Konami canceled Silent Hills in 2015, fans were disappointed that they would never get to play the full game. A developer named RadiusGordello decided to try recreating PT using Unreal Engine 4 as a passion project. The aim was to mimic the graphical quality, environments, and gameplay of the original teaser.
Unreal PT features explorable hallways and rooms modeled after the PS4 teaser, including many of the same puzzles and scares. There are a number of differences given this recreation remains a work in progress. Some notable missing elements compared to the original include the final hallway, the eyeball door peek, and the full ending scene.
Still, Unreal PT showcases the dedication of fans wishing to preserve PT's experience. It also shows the power of Unreal Engine 4 to deliver photorealistic visuals and tense horror atmospheres much like those seen in the Silent Hill teaser. Though not a complete recreation, Unreal PT offers players a chance to explore a similar vision for the canceled game.
