Turn-based strategy video game based on Warhammer 40,000 tabletop game, featuring Imperial forces and over 30 scenarios across the planet of Armageddon
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is a turn-based strategy video game developed by Flashback Games and published by Slitherine. It is based on the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop war game and miniatures franchise created by Games Workshop.
The game takes place on the fictional planet of Armageddon, the site of many legendary battles in Warhammer 40k lore. Players take control of the Imperial forces including the stalwart Space Marines, the vast Imperial Guard armies, or the forces of Chaos like demons and corrupted Space Marines.
The goal in the single player campaigns is to complete over 30 hand-crafted scenarios, each with varied objectives and opponents. Gameplay is turn-based, allowing players to make tactical decisions without time pressure. Formations of infantry, vehicles, and heroes do battle across Armageddon’s ash wastes and hive cities.
Multiplayer features both asynchronous and live online modes. Players build armies by spending points on units from their faction then face off against other players’ custom forces. Game types include death match, recon, assassinate and special event multiplayer.
Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon received generally positive reviews at its 2013 release, with praise for bringing the iconic Warhammer 40k universe to a detailed turn-based setting. Reviewers recommended the title for its replay value and faithful translation of tabletop game mechanics into video game format.
