What is WMM?
WMM or Windows Movie Maker is a free video editing software application developed by Microsoft. It comes pre-installed in Windows XP, Vista and 7. It provides basic yet powerful video editing tools that allow users, especially beginners, to edit and enhance their videos easily.
Some of the key features of Windows Movie Maker include:
- Importing and organizing video, image and audio files
- Trimming unwanted parts of video clips
- Applying visually impressive video effects like transitions, titles, credits etc.
- Adding background music or voice over narration
- Exporting the finished videos in common formats like .wmv, .mp4, .avi etc.
- Sharing edited videos directly to YouTube, Facebook, Flickr etc.
As it comes built-in with Windows OS and has an intuitive drag-and-drop style user interface, it is very easy to use, especially for amateur video creators. The editing options may not be as advanced as professional paid tools but are good enough for basic personal/home videos.
