What is YourTube?

YourTube is a relatively new video sharing website and app that provides an alternative to the extremely popular YouTube platform. Launched in 2019 by a small startup, YourTube aims to address some of the common complaints about YouTube such as too many ads, videos being deleted unfairly, and concerns over privacy.

One of the main differences between YourTube and YouTube is that YourTube claims to show no ads on any videos. This creates a cleaner, less cluttered viewing experience for users. YourTube states that they can provide an ad-free environment by taking a very small cut of creator earnings rather than running ads like YouTube. There is also an option for creators to add sponsor sections mid-video.

YourTube also promises higher video quality, with 4K resolution available and HD the minimum across the platform. This takes advantage of improvements in internet speeds since YouTube first launched. YourTube uses newer compression technology to minimize buffered loading times while maximizing video quality.

In terms of privacy, YourTube promises complete anonymity if desired by the user. No real names or details are required on registration, and the option is available to disable comments. YourTube also states that user data is never sold to or shared with third parties. This is in contrast to frequent YouTube user data controversies.

Additional key features of YourTube include playlists, the ability to save videos for offline viewing, live streaming capabilities, customized channels for creators, simplified attribution tools for using small clips of other videos, and more.

While YourTube offers an appealing alternative platform for video creators and consumers alike, it faces immense challenges trying to compete with the world's second biggest search engine in YouTube. Still, if it can continue to address common user complaints about ads, censorship, quality and privacy it may be able to establish itself as a viable alternative.
