What is BibLivre?

BibLivre is an open source integrated library system designed for libraries of all sizes. It includes modules for the following core functions:

  • Cataloging - Create, manage and organize bibliographic records for materials in the library's collection.
  • Circulation - Check materials in and out to patrons, manage loans and holds.
  • OPAC - Provide an online public access catalog for patrons to search and access library holdings information.
  • Patron management - Create and manage patron database, memberships and account information.
  • Acquisitions and serials - Track orders and subscriptions.
  • Reports - Generate statistical reports on library collections, usage, transactions etc.

Key features include Z39.50 integration for importing records from other databases, customizable search, flexible management of various material types, support for RFID, integration with external authentication sources and APIs for interoperability. The system is designed to be easily customized and extended for local needs.

As an open source system, BibLivre provides libraries an option to have more control and flexibility over their ILS, compared to proprietary systems. The modular architecture and open APIs allow libraries to modify the system to meet their specific needs.
