What is Blue Box?

Blue Box is an open source computer security software application designed to defeat malware attacks. It works by tricking malware into thinking it has successfully infected a computer system and has free rein, when in reality Blue Box has trapped the malware in an isolated, fake operating environment preventing it from inflicting any real damage or stealing data.

Once installed and running, Blue Box creates hooked APIs and uses other deception techniques to fool malware into believing it is executing in a real OS environment. The malware infects the fake environment set up by Blue Box thinking it now controls the computer, however Blue Box contains and isolates whatever the malware attempts to do through its deceptions.

Meanwhile, the real OS environment continues to run malware free and unaffected allowing the user to continue as normal. The isolated fake environment with the malware safely contained can then be analyzed by security researchers or simply deleted. Blue Box provides enhanced malware protection and data theft prevention beyond traditional security software.
