What is British Airways?

British Airways (BA) is the flagship carrier airline of the United Kingdom. The airline has its main hub at London Heathrow Airport and is headquartered in Waterside near Heathrow. British Airways originated in 1974 with the merger of British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) and British European Airways (BEA). The airline has a fleet size of over 270 aircrafts flying to more than 200 destinations worldwide.

As a global airline alliance founding member of Oneworld, British Airways partners with airlines like American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, and others. This allows the airline to offer its passengers more connectivity and options for seamless travel. British Airways is considered a full service airline, offering complimentary food and drinks on flights along with providing options for different travel classes. The airline also has an extensive frequent flyer program called the British Airways Executive Club.

Under its modernization program British Airways has focused on upgrading its fleet with new long haul aircrafts like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A380. The airline provides premium services to passengers with dedicated first and business class lounges at airports. British Airways has one of the largest networks for a European carrier, giving it a truly global reach. While the airline's main base remains London Heathrow, BA also has crew bases at Gatwick and London City airport within London.
