What is Casagbic?
Casagbic is an open-source, cross-platform computer-aided design (CAD) software application for 3D modeling and drafting. It has an intuitive user interface and provides a wide range of modeling and visualization tools for architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) workflows.
Some key features of Casagbic include:
- 3D parametric modeling tools for creating and editing complex geometry
- 2D drafting tools for floor plans, sections, elevations, etc.
- Rendering engine with realistic materials and lighting
- Library of customizable and parametric architectural objects like doors, windows, furniture, etc.
- Interoperability with industry standard file formats like IFC, DWG, DXF, OBJ, 3DS, etc.
- Plugin architecture to extend functionality using Python and C++ scripts
- Available for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems
Casagbic is designed to be lightweight and fast even on low-spec hardware. It can handle relatively large BIM projects without slowdowns. The UI is intuitive but highly customizable with keyboard shortcuts, customizable workspaces and interface themes.
The software is completely free and open-source, licensed under GPL. It has an active community contributing plugins and extensions. The modular architecture also makes it suitable as a development platform for specialized AEC workflows.
