What is Global Nest Atlas?

Global Nest Atlas is an innovative platform for crowdsourcing and sharing information about bird nesting sites and breeding activity around the world. Developed through a partnership between Birds Canada and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the goal of Global Nest Atlas is to empower a global community of bird enthusiasts to collect and provide data that advances scientific understanding and supports conservation efforts.

On the user-friendly Global Nest Atlas website or mobile application, observers can easily submit photos and details about nest locations and contents, breeding stage and behaviors, and threats to nests. Submitted data undergoes expert review before being added to the centralized Global Nest Atlas database which provides scientists, researchers and conservation managers with access to an unprecedented amount of information on nesting birds.
