What is PokeTracker?
PokeTracker is a mobile and web application designed specifically for players of the augmented reality game Pokemon Go. Its main purpose is to enable players to easily see where Pokemon are appearing in real time so they can hunt specific ones they want.
It works by crowdsourcing data from Pokemon Go players all over an area and plotting the Pokemon spawns on an interactive map. As players move around catching Pokemon, any Pokemon they encounter will get logged on the map along with details like the species, CP, despawn timers, and precise location.
This gives other Pokemon Go players in the same area an invaluable resource to find rare or high CP Pokemon they might be missing from their Pokedexes. The real-time tracking eliminates aimless wandering hoping to run into good Pokemon, so players can instead navigate efficiently to the exact location of whatever Pokemon they want.
In addition to live maps, PokeTracker also enables users to set up customizable notifications to alert them if a particular type of Pokemon spawns near their location. This further minimizes catching time and helps players find the rarest Pokemon in their locales.
