What is Image Capture?
Image Capture is an application that comes pre-installed on all Mac computers. It provides an easy way to download images from digital cameras or scanners that are connected to your Mac via USB or WiFi.
When you connect a compatible camera or scanner, Image Capture will automatically open and detect the device. You will be able to browse and preview the images stored on the external device. You can then import the photos to your Mac by dragging and dropping them into a folder or directly into the Photos app.
Some key features of Image Capture include:
- Supports common image file formats like JPG, RAW, TIFF
- Allows adjusting import settings like file name, location, etc.
- Option to delete images off the external device after importing
- Supports older cameras that may not work well with other modern software
Overall, Image Capture provides a simple importing solution without a lot of advanced editing features. It's ideal for quickly getting images or scanned documents into your Mac in a seamless workflow. The basic interface and lack of editing capabilities is suitable for beginner users who just want to import their pictures.
