iMaschine: Create Beats & Songs on the Go

Beatmaking app for iOS devices allowing users to create beats, melodies, and full songs by tapping pads, editing sounds with effects, and arranging patterns in a timeline.

What is IMaschine?

iMaschine is a full-featured beatmaking app developed by Native Instruments for iOS devices. It gives mobile producers and beatmakers an intuitive way to quickly sketch out musical ideas and turn them into professional-sounding tracks right from their iPhone or iPad.

At the core of the iMaschine experience is the pad section, featuring 16 velocity-sensitive pads for playing drums, samples, and notes in real-time. Users can tap out beats, trigger one-shot samples, play melodies, and come up with musically-inspiring patterns on the go. The pads can be edited with customizable colors, names, and more for a personalized workflow.

Beyond the pads, iMaschine provides a sound browser with hundreds of included instruments, drums, loops, and sounds to choose from. Users can search, preview and load sounds to assign to each pad, building up fully customized drum kits and instrumentation for their projects. An onboard pattern recorder captures pad performances into the iMaschine timeline for easy arrangement into full scenes and songs.

To take beats further, iMaschine offers a built-in mixer with level, pan, solo/mute controls over instruments. Plus, an effects section enables applying reverb, delay, distortion and filtering effects for sound design. Finally, scenes can be arranged into complete songs, and full tracks can be exported as lossless WAV files to finish up in other DAWs.
