The game is the third main entry in the Lego Batman video game series, following Lego Batman: The Videogame (2008) and Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (2012). It features a large cast of characters from the DC Comics universe, letting players control heroes like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and many others.

The story follows the villain Brainiac as he travels across Lantern worlds to collect the lantern rings and battery cores to increase his power. Batman, the Justice League, and even some DC villains must team up to stop Brainiac's evil plans to capture cities from across the universe, from Gotham City to the Batcave and beyond.
