Mamewah: Classic Arcade Emulator

Open source emulator application to play classic arcade video games on modern computers and devices, emulating arcade machine hardware for thousands of classic games

What is Mamewah?

Mamewah is an emulator application designed to recreate the hardware found in classic arcade video game cabinets. It allows users to play thousands of classic arcade titles on modern computers and devices.

As an emulator, Mamewah replicates the processors, graphics chips, sound boards and other components found inside actual arcade machines. This allows the software to run the original arcade game code, essentially fooling the game into thinking it is running on real arcade hardware.

Some of the capabilities and features of Mamewah include:

  • Supports thousands of classic arcade games from the 1970s through the 1990s including Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, and many more.
  • Emulates over a dozen different arcade system boards including CPS-1, CPS-2, Neo-Geo, etc.
  • Open source software with continual development from a community of contributors.
  • Extensively customizable with support for overlays, bezels, different control schemes, and more.
  • Available for Windows, Mac, Linux and other platforms.
  • Free to download and use.

With its vast game compatibility and dedication from its development community, Mamewah has become the gold standard in arcade game emulation, preservation and historical education.
