A free, open-source remake of the original Super Mario Bros game for Windows, featuring same gameplay and characters as the NES version with additional content.
Mario Forever is an unofficial, fan-made remake and tribute to Nintendo's classic platform game, Super Mario Bros. Originally released in 2009 by Polish developers known as Forever Entertainment, Mario Forever aims to recreate the look, feel, and gameplay of the original 1985 NES Mario game on modern Windows PCs.
As a clone of Super Mario Bros, Mario Forever features the same basic goal and side-scrolling platformer gameplay. Players control the iconic plumber Mario as he journeys through the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Toadstool from the evil Bowser. Mario must run, jump, and bounce his way through over 50 familiar levels of increasing difficulty while collecting power-ups, stomping on enemies, and dodging hazards and obstacles.
Mario Forever includes all the basic content and gameplay from the original Super Mario Bros, including the full set of main levels as well as special bonus and coin collectible levels. It also expands upon the original with some new surprises, including new power-up items to experiment with. The graphics and sound closely match the retro 8-bit look and music from the very first Mario game.
As an unofficial fan game, Mario Forever is offered completely free of charge, making it easily accessible for Super Mario fans to enjoy on their Windows computers. It satisfies that classic Nintendo gameplay itch, bringing back nostalgic Mario goodness in an officially-unlicensed package.
