It features characters from Capcom video games such as Street Fighter, Darkstalkers and Mega Man, pitted against characters from the American comic book company Marvel Comics such as The X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk and Spider-Man.
The series originated in 1996 with X-Men vs. Street Fighter, a fighting game that featured characters from the X-Men franchise and Street Fighter franchise.
