Miasmata: First-Person Survival Games

Explore an isolated island, craft essential items, and uncover the cure for a deadly plague in Miasmata, a gripping first-person survival adventure game.

What is Miasmata?

Miasmata is a first-person survival and adventure game developed and published by IonFX. You play as Robert Hughes, a scientist who is stranded on the island of Eden after a deadly plague breaks out on his ship. Your goal is to explore the island to find the cure and make your way off the island.

The core gameplay revolves around exploration, crafting, creature evasion, and infection management. As Robert Hughes, you start out sick and infected. You must mix various plant remedies to heal and keep the infection at bay. Wandering the island exposes you to creatures which you must stealthily evade or scare away with fire. There is also a thirst, hunger and fatigue system that must be monitored.

The island spans over 8 square kilometers of forests, beaches, cliffs and temples. It features a day-night cycle and dynamic weather including fog which affects navigation. There is no map, requiring the player to triangulate their position using landmarks. Crafting mechanics allow for creation of remedies, tools like knives, and improvements to stamina and health.

Miasmata has been praised for its unique survival gameplay formula focused on exploration over combat, as well as its intriguing story delivered through notes and diary fragments scattered across the island. Its lack of waypoints and map, and complex navigation mechanics also provide challenges for some players.
