What is NAEV?

NAEV is an open-source, 2D space flight simulation game with a focus on action and combat. Players take control of a spaceship and navigate through procedurally generated sectors, encountering enemies and completing missions.

Core gameplay revolves around ship control and equipment management during real-time battles. Using mouse and keyboard or gamepad, the player maneuvers their ship in 360 degrees to line up shots while managing power distribution to engines, weapons, and shields. After each victory, ship systems can be upgraded with new weapons, armor, and special abilities.

Beyond combat, NAEV contains RPG progression mechanics and an open-ended structure. As the player defeats enemies and completes missions for factions, they earn experience points and money to upgrade their piloting skills and purchase better ships. The hostile galaxy features multiple solar systems to explore at the player's own pace.
