What is Optimage?
Optimage is an open-source command line image optimizer that can significantly reduce the file size of JPEG, PNG, GIF and WebP images with no loss of image quality (lossless compression). It works by removing unnecessary metadata and optimizing encoding methods.
Optimage can achieve compression ratios of up to 80% for JPEG images and 60% for PNG images. It is highly configurable, allowing fine-grained control over optimization methods and effects. Key features include:
