What is ReplicatorG?
ReplicatorG is a free, open-source 3D printing program developed by MakerBot for use with desktop 3D printers. It provides an intuitive interface for converting 3D models from CAD programs or model repositories like Thingiverse into machine-readable G-code that can be sent to a printer.
Key features of ReplicatorG include:
Importing and repairing STL model files
Generating support material for overhangs
Positioning and scaling models on the virtual build platform
Specifying print settings like material, layer height and infill
Visual print previews to check for issues before printing
Sending prints directly to a connected 3D printer like the MakerBot Replicator
Although ReplicatorG was originally made for MakerBot printers, it has broad hardware compatibility and can work with many open-source printers and electronics like Arduino. Its G-code flavor is based on the RepRap style Marlin firmware.
ReplicatorG aims to make the 3D printing process more accessible for beginners while still providing flexible controls for experienced users. Its workflow and controls are similar to MakerBot's commercial Desktop software.
