What is Rubbish?

Rubbish is a free and open-source application for macOS that helps users clean up disk space by locating unused and old files that can be safely deleted. Developed by Svend Haugum, Rubbish aims to find files that the user has likely forgotten about or no longer needs in order to free up valuable disk space.

When launched, Rubbish scans the user's volumes and categorizes files by type and last access date. It uses colors to highlight files that have not been accessed for a configurable time period set by the user. For example, yellow indicates unchanged files not opened for a year, orange for two years, red for three years. Users can click on a file to preview it before deciding whether to delete it.
