What is Shadow Defender?
Shadow Defender is a security software developed by GeSWall LLC that provides on-demand privacy protection and anti-forensics capabilities for Windows computers. It works by creating a virtual environment that hides the user's activity and data every time the computer restarts.
When Shadow Defender is activated, it takes a snapshot of the computer's current state and partitions the hard drive into two zones - the main zone and the shadow zone. All subsequent user activity like browsing history, cache and cookies, documents, downloads, and any other changes are redirected to the shadow zone instead of the main zone.
Upon exiting Shadow Mode, the software discards the shadow zone, quickly restoring the computer to the state it was in before Shadow Defender was activated. This leaves behind no trace of any user activity during that Shadow Mode session.
Key features include:
- Hides user activity and data from hacking attempts
- Protects against surveillance and computer forensics
- Easy to use with one-click activation
- Works by rebooting computer into a virtual shadow environment
- Encrypts the shadow zone to prevent tampering
- Discards all changes made when shadow mode is exited
Shadow Defender aims to give users a quick and simple way to protect their privacy by erasing evidence of their activity. It can hide documents, browsing history, cached files, and any other changes made to the computer while in Shadow Mode. This prevents recovery through computer forensics, making it useful for shared or public computers.
