What is Shoot'Em Down (Series)?

Shoot'Em Down is a long-running series of scrolling shoot 'em up video games developed by the Italian company Gulti and published by various publishers over the years. The first game was released in 1992 for the Amiga home computer.

In the Shoot'Em Down games, players take control of a fighter jet and must shoot down enemies while navigating through scrolling levels. Gameplay involves shooting down enemy planes and avoiding enemy fire using evasive maneuvers. As the player progresses, the difficulty increases as more enemies appear on screen and bosses must be defeated.

The series is known for its fast-paced shooting action, detailed sprite graphics, and heavy metal-inspired soundtracks. While early games focused purely on aerial combat, later installments incorporated some variety with the addition of ground targets and terrain. The controls and core gameplay have remained consistent throughout the series.

To date there have been over a dozen Shoot'Em Down games released for platforms like the Amiga, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, PlayStation, and Windows.
