SNEShout: Self-Hosted SNES Game Library Browser

Discover SNEShout, an open-source web app for managing and playing your SNES games in the cloud, no emulators required.

What is SNEShout?

SNEShout is an open-source, self-hosted web application that allows you to easily browse, organize, and play your Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game library. It is designed to help you manage and gain insights into your SNES game collection.

With SNEShout, you can add your SNES game library by simply pointing it to the folder where your game ROMs are stored. It will automatically scan the folder and identify all the games, pulling in cover art, descriptions, reviews and other metadata from online databases. You can then browse through your library on the clean, intuitive interface and launch games directly in your browser using web-based SNES emulators like higan.

The application has many handy features for power users. You can tag, rate and review games in your library to gain insights into your collection over time. There is a wishlist feature for tracking games you want to purchase. You can compare your collection to other users. There are options for organizing your library with custom folders, sorting and filtering. The responsive interface works well on desktop and mobile.

Because SNEShout is open-source software, hosted on GitHub, you can either download and self-host it on your own server, or use one of the public instances available. It gives you full control and privacy over your personal game library. And since it's open source, you can also contribute and help improve the project over time.

For SNES enthusiasts looking to better explore, organize and get more enjoyment out of their game collections, SNEShout delivers a fantastic open-source solution.
