What is SocNetV?
SocNetV is an open-source, cross-platform application for social network analysis and visualization. It enables researchers to construct social networks with nodes and edges representing actors and relationships between them. SocNetV provides a wide range of network statistics and metrics to analyze the structural properties of social networks.
Some key features of SocNetV include:
- Importing and exporting network data in multiple formats like GraphML, Pajek, UCINET, etc.
- Visualization of networks using various layout algorithms like Fruchterman-Reingold, Kamada-Kawai, etc.
- Analysis of network topology metrics like density, diameter, clustering coefficient, etc.
- Centrality metrics to identify important nodes like degree, betweenness, closeness, etc.
- Community detection algorithms to find densely connected groups within the network.
- Support for multiple node shapes, colors, and sizes for distinction.
- Dynamic filtering and manipulation of the visualized networks.
SocNetV runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. The intuitive graphical user interface makes it easy for researchers from various disciplines like social sciences, physics, computer science, biology etc. to analyze social networks without programming skills.
