What is Synthclipse?

Synthclipse is an open-source and completely free modular synthesizer application and plugin available for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. It provides users with a graphical modular interface to create virtual synthesizers using a wide range of modules including oscillators, filters, effects, sequencers, envelopes, LFOs, control modules, and more.

The modules in Synthclipse use virtual patch cables allowing complex routing between modules to craft unique sounds. An unlimited number of modules can be used in each synth. It comes packed with over 80 modules covering the essentials like VCOs, VCFs, Envelopes to more complex modules like the 16-step sequencer, guitar effect modules like distortions, reverbs, delays, and more. The library of modules is continually expanding.

As an instrument plugin, Synthclipse works with any VST, AU, or AAX host application that supports these formats. This allows the synthesizers designed in Synthclipse to be used for music production in DAWs. It also works as a standalone application with support for MIDI controllers allowing for live performances.

The fully modular design paired with the lightweight interface gives Synthclipse flexibility typically found only in paid modular synth applications. For musicians looking for a deep modular synthesizer that won't break the bank, Synthclipse is an excellent free and open source option.
