SynthEdit: Modular Software Synthesizer Editor for Windowss

Free, open source software synthesizer editor with graphical interface to create and edit virtual synthesizers

What is SynthEdit?

SynthEdit is a free, open source modular software synthesizer and effect plugin editor for Windows. It provides a graphical modular interface that allows users to add, edit, and connect various synthesizer and effect components like oscillators, filters, envelopes, sequencers, distortions, delays, and more to create virtual instruments and effects.

With SynthEdit, users can build both synthesizers and effects from the ground up. The modular interface uses patch cords to connect component modules, allowing complex routing scenarios. An extensive library of pre-made modules is included to get started quickly. Users can also create their own modules by coding them in C++.

Once created, SynthEdit instruments and effects can be exported as VST, DirectX, or Jesusonic plugins to be used in digital audio workstations and music production software. The exported plugins can be shared with others as well.

Key features include:

  • Graphical modular interface for building synthesizers and effects
  • Extensive library of pre-made modules like oscillators, filters, LFOs, sequencers, distortions, etc
  • Ability to create custom modules by coding in C++
  • Capable of building both synthesizers and effects
  • Export to VST, DirectX, Jesusonic plugin formats
  • Free and open source

With its flexible modular routing system, included module library, and plugin export capabilities, SynthEdit is a powerful way for musicians and programmers to design their own virtual instruments and effects without needing to code everything from scratch.
