What is Wii Sports?
Wii Sports is a sports video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii video game console. It was released in 2006 as a launch title and pack-in game for the Wii.
Wii Sports features five different sports that players can simulate using the motion controls of the Wii Remote. The five sports included are:
- Tennis
- Baseball
- Bowling
- Golf
- Boxing
In tennis, players use the Wii Remote to swing the racket to hit the ball across the net. In baseball, players bat and pitch using swung motions. Bowling allows players to physically roll the ball as if bowling in real life. Golf has players swing the Wii Remote as a golf club. Boxing has players jab, hook, and dodge using motion controls.
Wii Sports allows up to four local players to compete in the different sports. It features single player modes for practice, as well as competitive multiplayer matches. The simple, approachable gameplay made it an enormously popular title.
