Discover, purchase and access apps optimized for your Intel hardware, exclusively on AppUp, the official app store and software service from Intel.
AppUp is an application store and software service originally created by Intel in 2010 to provide applications and services for Intel-based devices such as netbooks, laptops, tablets and smart TVs. The service aims to allow users to easily discover, purchase and access apps that are optimized and tested for their Intel hardware.
The AppUp center is the client app that acts as the main portal for accessing the AppUp catalog of apps and services. It provides an app store-like interface to browse, search and install apps ranging from games to productivity software. AppUp apps go through extensive compatibility and performance testing to ensure they run smoothly on Intel Atom and Core processor-based devices.
A key focus of AppUp is to make it simple for developers to port their apps to Intel hardware and make them available to end users. It provides tools, testing and certification capabilities to enable developers to refactor their apps to run optimally on the broad range of Intel platforms. AppUp ultimately aims to provide a unified app platform across Intel consumer devices.
While AppUp showed early promise and had several major app providers and OEMs on board, it apparently struggled to gain significant consumer and developer traction. In late 2014, Intel sold AppUp assets to Insyde Software as Intel refocused its software strategy for new devices and form factors.
