Stealth action video game developed by Lince Works, where you play as an assassin with supernatural abilities carrying out missions in the shadows.
Aragami is a stealth action video game developed and published by Lince Works. It was released in October 2016 for Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms. The game later came to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in September 2017.
In Aragami, you take control of an undead assassin who has been summoned by a mysterious girl named Yamiko to fight against the army of a warlord named Kaiho. Your character has command over the shadows and can teleport instantly between them. You must use your powers over darkness to sneak through enemy territory and assassinate your targets.
The gameplay puts emphasis on stealth mechanics and avoiding detection. As you are weak in direct combat, you must stick to the shadows to evade the eyes of watchful guards, soldiers, and other enemies. You can teleport between shadow areas to move swiftly and covertly. The game features large open levels with multiple paths and many hiding spots to facilitate stealth-based traversal and attacks.
Over the course of the game's single-player campaign, you unlock additional shadow powers including summoning shadow beasts to attack enemies, creating shadow clones as distractions, and more. You can upgrade abilities by collecting scrolls scattered across levels. There is no combat system beyond assassinating unsuspecting enemies. The challenge comes from sneaking through without being caught in enemy light sources - if spotted, you must quickly flee back into the shadows.
The game received generally positive reviews upon launch, with praise directed at its unique art style and gameplay premise as well as the strong stealth mechanics. Criticism was mainly concerning its simple enemy AI and short length. Additional DLC content has since been released with new levels and powers to expand the experience.
